What is Podiatry / Podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a foot and ankle specialist who treats patients for problems in the foot, ankle and other lower extremity joints (below the knee, including the tarsal, metatarsal and phalangeal bones) or skin, neuromas, and other disorders of these areas. A doctor who treats disorders of the foot, ankle, or lower leg. Podiatrists use diagnostic tests to help determine the cause and nature of your problem. They then will prescribe treatment based on their analysis that will give you the fastest road to being pain free.

How will a Podiatrist Fix My Foot Pain?

A podiatrist will effectively treat your foot conditions. They pay attention to details, are curious about the causes of things, and want the best outcomes for their patients. How do they achieve this? For example, if the condition is causing you pain, a podiatrist may administer medications to relieve your pain. They will also likely prescribe exercises for you to complete so that the condition is not aggravated further. Else, if your condition is one that results in deformity, such as hammer toes or bunions, a podiatrist may suggest surgery so that the deformity can be corrected. Staying up-to-date with the latest treatments and following evidence-based guidelines helps podiatrists provide excellent foot care.
