Frequently Asked Questions
Is pelvic floor physiotherapy painful?
Pelvic floor physiotherapy should not be painful. Most patients describe the assessment and treatment as comfortable and respectful. Some techniques may cause mild discomfort similar to other physiotherapy treatments, especially when working with tight or weak muscles, but therapy is always adjusted to your tolerance. Your therapist will explain each step before beginning and will proceed only with your consent.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required to book pelvic floor physiotherapy. You can schedule an appointment directly. Some insurance providers may require a physician referral for reimbursement, so it is recommended to check your individual insurance policy if needed.
Is this private?
Yes. All pelvic floor assessments and treatments are performed in a private treatment room. Your sessions are one on one with your physiotherapist and conducted with full professionalism and confidentiality. Patient comfort, dignity, and privacy are always prioritized.
Is it covered by insurance?
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is covered under most extended health insurance plans as physiotherapy services. We offer direct billing for many insurance providers. Coverage depends on your individual plan and remaining annual benefits. Our front desk team can verify your coverage before your appointment.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, goals, and severity of symptoms. Some patients notice improvement within a few visits, while others require several weeks of treatment. Your physiotherapist will create a personalized treatment plan after your initial assessment and will review progress regularly.
Do you treat men and women?
Yes. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is beneficial for both men and women. We treat conditions such as bladder control issues, pelvic pain, post surgical recovery, and core weakness in all adults. Treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s needs and comfort level.
